Premium first-person horror platformer

Eason is a paid adventure game from NStars games. Revolving around a mysterious extra-dimensional space, this horror platformer with first-person shooter (FPS) elements lets you control the titular character as you navigate locations that blur the line between reality and imagination. Additionally, the game features tricky puzzles, requiring you to pay attention to hints and details scattered throughout.

If you’re looking for a quick horror with a bit of everything, Eason should be a good entry. However, its rushed and poorly made third act undoes its promising material in the first parts. You can also check Fever Cabin or ANDROMALIUS.

A weird case of finding yourself

Right at the beginning of Eason, it is made clear that you’re in charge of a troubled character. What it doesn’t clarify, however, is if the horrors you encounter throughout are real or just in your head—creating the core of the experience. Apart from that, expect slight elements from FPS, puzzles, and platforming, although it remains a psychological horror at the center.

Like most horror games, this also opts for darkness to evoke mystery and suspense. From flickering lights to dimly-lit areas, you can find the standard fare in this game. However, it adds small elements that truly make the game unsettling—from dripping water sounds to blowing fog. This makes the game, with its short playthrough of less than an hour, a promising purchase.

Unfortunately, the game feels like it was released incompletely. Later in the game, the problems with the graphics and animation start appearing. Walls glitch in and out of your view, and the monsters just don’t move anymore. Even worse, it doesn’t even offer an ending scenario. In the middle of a seemingly ordinary encounter. The game just stops, and it thanks you for playing.

Rushed and incomplete

Had it been a free game, Eason would be a good choice. It has a fairly quick run letting you experience a lot of things in a short amount of time. The game even manages to nail certain horror aspects by adding small details. However, it quickly spirals out of control, giving you an incomplete mess of a game that just cuts off. Simply put, it’s not worth the purchase.
